Thoofan 2.0
"Operation Toofan: The Narco Hunt" is a new initiative launched by the Kerala Police to eradicate the drug mafia. The project is being implemented jointly with the cooperation of the Education, Health, and Excise departments. The second phase (Operation Toofan 2.0) commenced on September 28, 2026. This phase aims to strengthen anti-drug activities at the grassroots level by extending operations to villages and local self-government institutions, fostering active public participation.
Through this initiative, the Kerala Police aims to take stringent legal action against drug mafias and build a robust public defense with the involvement of the community. The project has been conceived in a manner suited to the digital age to counter the rapid spread of synthetic drugs.
The mission seeks to issue a stern warning to drug mafias while simultaneously ensuring a sense of complete security for the general public.
Joint strategies will be planned in consultation with police chiefs from other South Indian states to dismantle inter-state drug trafficking networks.
An extensive digital surveillance system, comprising mobile apps and WhatsApp chatbots, will be established to facilitate the anonymous sharing of information regarding drug trafficking.
The police will ensure the protection of those providing confidential information. Key Objectives
